Tips for managing Littlies over the festive period
The festive time can be very exhausting at the best of times. With a small baby or child in tow, even more so!
Managing your own and baby’s needs and balancing the desires of relatives and friends to visit can be a real challenge.
Prioritising social events can help prevent becoming too stressed or exhausted.
Making sure you eat small amounts of nutritious foods at regular intervals during the day will help keep your blood sugar and energy levels up – don’t deny yourself some of what you love though!
Tuning in to baby’s body language – babies quickly become overtired and overstimulated from over handling by doting friends and family. A baby 0-3 month’s can cope with about an hour of awake time before they become fractious and overtired.
If you’re at someone’s house, take along a Moses basket or similar to allow baby to have a nap in a quiet area.
Communicate clearly with your partner so that you are both ‘on the same page’. Your partner can advocate for you and baby if you’re feeling pressured to attend an event or feeling overwhelmed.
